"Around The Corner" is a mixed media piece of an iconic street in New York's Greenwich Village. I moved to the city after college and fell in love with this street and its magical atmosphere promising multilayered adventure.
Materials: acrylic and oil paint, print, collage. 24" x 30"
This Japanese Maple lived on my patio for a few years then slowly faded away. Perching on the stems, grasping leaves, one can see little twig people. I became aware of twig people from an unrelated Facebook Post after doing this piece!
Materials: Ink on clayboard. 11" x 14".
The Path emerging from the woods is deliberately geometric. Perspective is skewed but still works.
Carved collage painted with printers ink forms branches of trees obscuring a city scape behind it. Are those trees in the distance or smokestacks?
Materials: Acrylic and oil paint, paper collage, ink.
29" x 30 "
Grandparents - mine. Throughout the piece are symbols from Eastern Europe and their personal lives - woven through my grandmother's hair are the names of her 8 children. I also expanded the symbols to include icons of life in the new world.
Materials: Pen and Ink on Bristol. 20" x 20".
People busily wait for the boat to take them to Channel Islands off the coast of Ventura. I loved the energy of anticipation of adventure. Everyone is engaged with the moment - had to paint it!
Materials: Acrylic, Gauche, Collage. 8" x 10".
Woman in shorts is a student piece. Though I enjoyed the figure drawing, I think I became too enamored with the fabric. I still love its molten quality spilling over the edge of the tilted table.
Materials: Pastel on paper. 20"x 26".
Prep sketch in pencil on Bristol for a commissioned Triptych painting of the colorful and charming harbor town, Portofino, in Italy.
See the contact page for the Portofino painting in process of being painted. ;+)
Portofino - the commissioned Triptych I enjoyed painting for its oddities like the Christmas tree at the edge of the water. Colorful and moody, the scene hangs onto a somber note of winter yet leans toward spring.
Materials: Acrylic on canvas - 36"x72"
